◇Wooden toys filled with warmth


Japanese top have been a beloved childhood toy for generations. Kyushu tops feature an iron core, with Yame spinning tops also possessing a large peak on the upper surface, which is colored brightly in reds, greens and yellows. Since ancient times they have also brought joy as lucky charms, symbolising ‘good fortune coming around’, ‘the circulation of money in one’s direction’ and ‘life turning out more smoothly’. The same production techniques are also utilized to create other toys filled with the warmth of wood, including kendama (cup-and-ball) and building blocks.
